With Diwali days away, Indian travellers are looking at destinations both near and far, according to Booking.com’s latest search data. The list runs from Rajasthan’s heritage and Goa’s beaches to short-haul Asian escapes such as Bangkok and Tokyo.
Domestic: Heritage, Spirituality and the Hills
Udaipur is the most-searched domestic destination for the Diwali period, followed by Goa and Jaipur. Spiritual stops also feature strongly, with Varanasi (4th), Puri (6th) and Rishikesh (7th) in the top 10, alongside Munnar (5th), Puducherry (8th), Varkala (9th) and Ooty (10th). The rankings cover travel between 6 and 14 November 2026 and are based on Booking.com accommodation search data.

Booking.com notes how interest splits. Mumbai, New Delhi and Bengaluru are driven mainly by solo travellers and couples. Udaipur, Jaipur and Varanasi draw balanced interest from couples, families and groups, while Munnar and Puri are favoured by families and larger groups.
International: Asia Leads
Asia-Pacific destinations take 8 of the top 10 international spots, which Booking.com attributes to convenient flights and rich cultural experiences. Bangkok is first, followed by Dubai, Tokyo, Singapore, Phuket and Phu Quoc. London (7th) is the only long-haul entry, and the list closes with Hanoi (8th), Hong Kong (9th) and Kuala Lumpur (10th).

Dubai, Tokyo and Singapore attract all traveller types and are especially popular for family getaways. Bangkok, Phuket, Phu Quoc, Hanoi and Hong Kong are driven mainly by couples and groups drawn to nightlife, beaches, culture and food.
Stays Built for Sharing
Alongside the data, Booking.com’s “Scene Set Hai” campaign offers discounts of 15% or more on participating properties in India and abroad. It applies to bookings made between 28 September and 9 November 2026 for stays between 1 October 2026 and 7 January 2027.
Santosh Kumar, Regional Manager, South Asia, Booking.com, says travellers are moving towards micro-vacations and spontaneous getaways, with Gen Z looking for offbeat island escapes and multi-generational families booking spacious holiday homes.
