Marking the nine days of Navratri with traditional fasting delicacies along the sacred banks of the Ganges in Haridwar

As Haridwar welcomes the nine auspicious days of Navratri, the sacred Ganges becomes a setting for prayer and devotion honouring Goddess Durga. Marking the occasion, Pilibhit House – IHCL SeleQtions, and Hari Ganga Niwas – IHCL SeleQtions, present a thoughtfully curated Navratri Bhojan that celebrates the culinary traditions associated with the festival. Rooted in the customs of fasting, the offering brings together familiar ingredients and time-honoured preparations, inviting guests to savour the flavours of Navratri against the timeless spiritual backdrop of the Ganges.

The traditional thali features an assortment of savoury preparations, beginning with Sabudana ki Khichdi, with sago cooked in desi ghee with potatoes and peanuts, alongside Kashifal ki Subzi, a semi-dry pumpkin preparation, and Singhare ki Poori, made with water chestnut flour. Paneer Kalimirch, featuring cottage cheese cubes tempered with black pepper, adds a peppery note to the selection, bringing together familiar flavours and textures associated with festive fasting cuisine.

Completing the thali are Dahi Ramdana, a distinctive preparation of ramdana in a yoghurt-based sauce, and Aloo Jeera Dhaniya, a homestyle potato preparation seasoned with cumin and coriander. Fresh tropical cut fruits provide a refreshing complement to the savoury dishes, while Makhane ki Kheer, a traditional fox nut pudding, rounds off the meal on a sweet note. Together, the preparations offer a taste of traditional Navratri cuisine through a carefully composed thali that honours the flavours and customs of the season.

Through this festive offering, Pilibhit House – IHCL SeleQtions, and Hari Ganga Niwas, Haridwar – IHCL SeleQtions, bring the culinary traditions of Navratri to the sacred banks of the Ganges, inviting guests to experience the flavours of the season through a menu rooted in India’s rich culinary heritage.

Priced at INR 2,500/- plus taxes per person at both Pilibhit House – IHCL SeleQtions, and Hari Ganga Niwas, Haridwar – IHCL SeleQtions, the Navratri Bhojan invites guests to savour traditional fasting delicacies at both properties.
